From my Island Hopping Trip to the Outer Hebrides, I stayed on one of the most remote Islands off the North West Coast of Scotland, Vatersay. It is connected to the smallest of the Outer Hebrides, Isle of Barra.
If you are like me, and love finding remote, beautiful and overwhelming places of nature, Vatersay truly is it. I spent the night here, we camped out and in the morning awoke to the most beautiful sights of clear (freezing) water, a lookout to the tiny Islands of the shore and surrounded by the rugged rocky mountains this place has to offer. It is always the best option to get off the most travelled path and go to places that not as many people know about.
I’ve attached these images just to show you how truly incredible the beaches and the scenery are here. There is not much to do here, Barra is where most things happen, but to see a true place of beauty and to just get away from it all in a unique and idyllic setting, I would head to Vatersay.
This is natural Scotland truly at it’s best.
